Job Description

Aspen Careers, LLC is working with a downtown Columbus law firm that is seeking a Billing Specialist. This person is responsible for processing client bills using full knowledge and understanding of accounting software. The position works directly with attorneys and secretaries to ensure accurate time and disbursement/expense entries and completes all billing to meet established deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and handles all aspects of billing for specified attorneys and/or clients as assigned.
  • Works directly with attorneys relating to client's billing guidelines, and any other billing questions or issues.
  • Prepare and present pre-bills to attorneys in accordance with client matter billing terms.
  • Process edits, post invoices and forward final bills to billing attorney and/or client as directed.
  • Prepare and review accounts receivable and WIP reports.
  • Assist attorneys with regular reporting needs and requests.

Qualifications

  • Requires fundamental knowledge of accounting software and basic accounting principles acquired from three (3) to five (5) years of related experience in a large law firm (or other professional service firm) and/or Associate Degree and equivalent experience.
  • Requires analytical skills to apply knowledge to practical situations and the ability to foresee problems and effect solutions.
  • Ability to work independently under pressure and pre-set deadlines in an accurate manner with consistently high production.
  • Advanced client/customer service, law firm, billing/accounting experience, superior judgment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, proofreading skills and the ability to multi-task.
  • Proficient Aderant, Elite or similar time and billing/accounting software.
  • Requires good organizational and planning skills to prioritize and complete assigned bills accurately and in a timely manner and to assess, recommend, and implement improved work procedures.
  • Dependability, the willingness to meet the requirements of the position, accepting a wide variety of assignments with a positive attitude and team spirit.
  • Ebilling experience is a plus.
