Job Description

SBS Creatix is seeking an Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) Specialist I aka Drone Pilot to join a centralized robotics and drone operations team responsible for aerial inspections across an entire enterprise organization.

This isn't a desk job. You'll be out in the field most of the week, operating UAS drones to capture data for distribution and transmission inspections and other mission-critical work. After an initial training period of 2 to 3 months, you'll operate independently and own your missions from prep to delivery. If you're a licensed drone pilot who thrives in the field and wants to do meaningful work that directly supports infrastructure reliability, this one's worth a look.

Responsibilities

• Execute UAS data capture flights for distribution inspections, transmission reliability assessments, and damage evaluations
• Process and deliver post-flight data including imagery, infrared (IR) data, and LIDAR outputs to the appropriate internal teams
• Operate supplemental inspection equipment such as ground-based 3D scanning devices, handheld IR/corona cameras, and survey systems
• Use mobile mapping applications (ArcGIS Collector, Apple Maps) to support mission planning
• Store, maintain, and distribute collected data in accordance with security protocols
• Perform ongoing UAV maintenance and job tracking activities
• Stay current on FAA, state, and local UAS regulations and operate in full compliance
• Attend mandatory daily team meetings (M-Th, 7:00 AM sharp) and complete field assignments across multiple sites
• Drive to field locations; mileage/gas reimbursement provided

Required Qualifications

• FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate (required)
• Bachelor's degree in UAS, GIS, Robotics, Engineering Technology, Surveying, Mass Media/Communications, or a related technical field
• At least 1 year of relevant experience in UAS operations or a related field
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
• Experience troubleshooting electrical and technical components
• Strong situational awareness and a customer-first mindset (minimizing disruption to the public is a top priority)
• Ability to lift up to 55 lbs. and work in all weather conditions for extended periods
• Availability for emergency callouts on Fridays and occasional overnight travel

Preferred Qualifications

• 1+ years of professional drone flying experience beyond licensing
• Experience processing drone data, including imagery and LIDAR outputs
• Videography experience
• Proficiency with ArcGIS or similar GIS platforms
• Familiarity with infrared inspection technology
• Recent graduates with a UAS-specific degree are encouraged to apply
