Canyon Hills Friends Church in Yorba Linda, California , is a family-oriented, mission-driven, multigenerational community committed to reaching people, teaching God’s Word, mending lives, and sending workers into the world .

We’re growing — and we’re looking for a Worship & Creative Arts Director to help lead our congregation in Spirit-led worship and creative expression that inspires people to encounter Jesus.

About the Role:

The Worship & Creative Arts Director will lead and develop a culture of authentic worship and creativity that reflects the mission and values of Canyon Hills Friends Church. This position oversees all aspects of Sunday worship gatherings, production, and creative arts, cultivating an environment where excellence, authenticity, and spiritual depth intersect.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and Develop a Worship Culture: Build a worship ministry that aligns with the church’s mission to Reach, Teach, Mend, and Send , fostering an atmosphere of Spirit-led worship that draws people closer to Christ.
  • Recruit, Train, and Care for Volunteers: Develop musicians, vocalists, and production team members. Create community, celebrate wins, and encourage spiritual and creative growth within the team.
    • Conduct auditions and integrate new members into the team.
    • Create and manage service and A/V schedules in Planning Center Online.
    • Prepare ProPresenter shows and coordinate with the A/V Team and Audio Visual Coordinator before rehearsals.
  • Oversee Weekly Worship Gatherings: Plan and lead all worship elements including song selection, arrangements, transitions, and service flow. Collaborate with pastors and staff to ensure creative and spiritual alignment.
  • Creative Arts & Production Oversight: Collaborate with A/V, tech, and creative teams to create cohesive, distraction-free worship experiences. Manage stage design, visual media, and creative storytelling components that enhance weekly gatherings and special events.
  • Plan & Execute Special Events: Lead and coordinate worship for special services such as Nights of Worship, holidays, and outreach events.
  • Stewardship & Systems: Create and manage the annual Worship & Creative Arts budget . Maintain equipment, systems, and environments that promote excellence, efficiency, and safety.
  • Stage Design & Resets: Oversee seasonal stage aesthetics, ensuring creative expression reflects the themes and seasons of the church.

Additional Expectations:

  • Participate in staff meetings, retreats, and events that encourage collaboration and growth.
  • Stay current in worship trends, music, and technology.
  • Partner with other ministry leaders to support church-wide initiatives and events.
  • Maintain a healthy and balanced life spiritually, emotionally, and relationally.
  • Assist with weddings and memorials (compensated separately).
  • Attend one ministry conference per year for renewal and inspiration.

Qualifications:

Spiritual:

  • A growing, vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • A heart for worship, discipleship, and the local church.
  • Alignment with Canyon Hills Friends Church’s Statement of Faith , Mission , and Core Values .
  • Demonstrates humility, integrity, and a Spirit-filled lifestyle.

Experience & Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in music, worship arts, or ministry (preferred).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience leading worship and teams in a church context.
  • Proven ability to lead both musically and spiritually.

Skills:

  • Strong proficiency in ProPresenter , Planning Center Online , and Google Workspace .
  • Excellent musical skill (vocals, guitar, or keyboard preferred).
  • Solid communication, organization, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, build teams, and lead with grace and excellence.
